#interview #podcast w/ Marc Appleton of Appleton Partners, LLP

One of the things that I have been doing during the pandemic opening up are reaching out to different architects and going to their offices to meet in person. And it has been great to see everyone and have a cup of coffee.
I have been visiting a lot of residential architects lately and I have my own projects so this is first in a series on #Houses&Housing that I will be focusing on in the new year.
One of the first architects whose firm I worked at who primarily specialized in Houses is Marc Appleton. I worked for Marc and his then business parner, Ralph Mechur, in the early 90's. I would like to say that everything that I learned the right way is from that office. And it shows with the list of architects who have gone on to start their own firms or have become partners in other firms, I have interviewed and will be interviewing quite a few of them in the coming months.
I went on a mini-vacation to Santa Barbara about a year ago and an architect that I had worked for many years ago in Venice has an office there and in Santa Monica and met him at the office, in his library, to catch up on what has been happening in the last 20 years. We said we would do a podcast together and we finally were able to make that happen in July. However, I had some other podcasts set up, I had a couple of conferences to go to, AIA CRAN Symposium and AIA California MDC (Monterey Design Conference) and it took a little longer.
Links o projects that I worked on in the firm, the photos are copyrighted and cannot be saved, so you will just have to "follow the link" to see them!

And then there was some editing to be done as far as technical glitches that happen with Apple Voice Memo... you can not in fact, export if a file is longer than 60 minutes, which as you can see with most architects, especially those of us who have been practicing and have a lot of stories to tell, keeping it to an hour is a very daunting task.
And here is the interview to start the #Houses&Housing #podcast series:
